Professional squash player who won the World Team Squash Championships representing Egypt in 2011. In November 2014, he became the top ranked player in the Men's Squash World Rankings.
He was born in Alexandria, Egypt and won back-to-back World Junior Squash Championships in 2008 and 2009.
At age 23, he became the fourth-youngest player ever to be ranked as the top squash player in the world.
His brother is fellow professional squash player Marwan El Shorbagy.
He defeated England's Nick Matthew in the final of the 2013 Qatar Classic.
