Japanese Navy Air Service Captain who commanded the kamikaze air attacks on Pearl Harbor in December of 1941. Surviving the war, he acted as a historical speaker and toured the U.S. to describe what went into the Japanese attack.
He graduated from the Imperial Japanese Naval Academy in 1924 and subsequently served in the Second Sino-Japanese War.
He converted to Evangelical Christianity at the end of World War II and spoke to audiences in America and Europe about his religious journey before settling permanently in the United States.
He was born in Katsuragi, Nara Prefecture, Japan.
