Known for such rhythm & blues hits as "Let's Start Love Over" and "I've Been a Fool For You." He was also briefly the frontman of the hit disco group, Village People.
After studying violin at the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music, he became a bassist, flautist, and keybord player with the United States Air Force Band.
He co-produced, wrote songs for, and provided backing music for Teddy Pendergrass's popular 1980s album, Joy.
He fathered a daughter named Asia and a son named Miles II.
He and jazz musician Eric Gale toured together in the early 1980s.
