Mike Stern

Known for his work with both Miles Davis' 1980s band and with the jazz-rock group Blood, Sweat & Tears, this Massachusetts-born musician received Guitar Player's #1 jazz guitarist title in 1993.
After studying at the Berklee College of Music, he began performing with jazz drummer Billy Cobham.
He released his first solo album, Upside Downside, in 1986.
He married singer and fellow guitarist Leni Stern. The half-brother of actress Kyra Sedgwick, he was born Michael Sedgwick and later adopted his stepfather's surname.
His second solo jazz album, Time in Place, featured drummer Peter Erskine.
