Known for his roles in such popular television series and films as, respectively, Star Trek: The Next Generation and The Big Lebowski, he also appeared in episodes of Desperate Housewives, The X-Files, Chicago Hope, and Hill Street Blues.
Early in his career, he was cast in two episodes of the television series Hart to Hart.
He performed in the 1979 Broadway production of Zoot Suit.
He grew up in Dallas, Texas.
He played the role of Corporal Quinones in Clint Eastwood's 1986 film Heartbreak Ridge.
