Indian swimmer known as the first Asian to swim the English Channel and the first swimmer to have crossed the Palk Straits.
He earned a degree in Law from the local Utkal University, but was forced to work at an English railway station.
Later in life, he became a silk exporter whose company was recognized by the Indian government as the country's second largest silk exporter.
His father, Ramesh Sen, was a physician.
He and Gertrude Ederle are both known for having swam across the English Channel.
