Fashion-oriented YouTube sensation and entrepreneur who first became known for her makeup tutorials. She is also notable for co-founding the monthly beauty product subscription service known as ipsy as well as her own cosmetic line called em by Michelle Phan. Her "Barbie Transformation Tutorial" makeup video has received over 68 million views since it was posted in October of 2009.
She attended Ringling College of Art and Design and Massachusetts College of Art and Design, but dropped out of both.
She was hired by Lancôme as their official video make-up artist after she had used Lancôme products in her YouTube videos. She has over 8 million subscribers on her YouTube channel. Right before Halloween in 2021, she posted a photo of herself dressed as one of the characters from the hit tv show Squid Game.
She was raised by a single mother. Her sister-in-law is fellow YouTube sensation Promise Tamang Phan. She's been in a relationship with Dominique Capraro since 2010.
She made two Lady Gaga makeup tutorials, based on Gaga's pop hits "Poker Face" and "Bad Romance," that catapulted her over the one-million views mark and were featured in BuzzFeed.
