He co-founded School of Fish in 1989 and was signed to Capitol Records in 1990.
He won a Grammy Award with The Wallflowers in the Best Performance by a Duo or Group for their single One Headlight.
He grew up with his family in Los Angeles, California.
He was in the band The Wallflowers with lead singer Jakob Dylan.
