Between 1999 and 2015, he executive produced 21 episodes of The Comeback; 80 episodes of Sex and the City; and 84 episodes of 2 Broke Girls. Earlier in his career, he served as a co-executive producer on Cybill and as a consulting producer on Will & Grace. He also directed and wrote many episodes of all of these popular series.
After studying at Mercyhurst University and performing with a New York-based improv troupe called The Broadway Local, he moved to Los Angeles and began his television career by penning ten episodes of the popular CBS comedy series Murphy Brown.
He won two Primetime Emmys for his work on Sex and the City and was nominated for the same honor for his contributions to The Comeback and Murphy Brown.
Raised in an Irish Catholic family, he spent his youth in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and is openly gay.
He co-created 2 Broke Girls with writer, producer, and comedienne Whitney Cummings.
