Michael Gruber
Novelist
Initially a ghostwriter for Robert K. Tanenbaum, he later made a name for himself as a novelist, publishing mysteries and thrillers such as Tropic of Night (2003); Night of the Jaguar (2006); and the bestselling The Book of Air and Shadows (2007).
Before beginning his career as a novelist, he graduated from Columbia University; earned a doctorate in biology from the University of Miami; and worked for the White House and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
In 2006, his fantasy novel The Witch's Boy received the Washington State Book Awards' Scandiuzzi Children's Book Award.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, he later settled in Seattle, Washington.
He once worked as an advisor to United States President Jimmy Carter.
