She was raised as an only child in Wilson, North Carolina, though her parents fostered and later adopted other children. She went on to study at Liberty University, a Christian college in Virginia.
Her chart-topping Christian worship songs include "How Great Is the Love and Not For a Moment (After All)."
She and her husband, Jacob Sooter, were married in 2008 and had two sons, Maverick Elijah and Remington Ezra, between 2010 and 2013.
She and Britt Nicole both pursued careers in Christian music.
