Egyptian-Canadian actor cast in the title role of Disney's 2019 live-action film Aladdin. He was previously most recognized for his roles in the TV series The 99 and Open Heart. In 2017, he was cast to play Tarek Kassar in the TV series Jack Ryan.
He attended Ryerson University where he studied theater and acting after transferring from the University of Toronto. His first role was in a season 1 episode of Nikita.
He provided his voice for the 2016 video game Watch Dogs 2. He was cast as Ethan Hart in the Hulu series Reprisal.
He was raised in a Coptic Christian family in Canada.
He was cast alongside Naomi Scott and Will Smith in Aladdin. They would play Princess Jasmine and the genie, respectively.
