12-time All-Star who hit 511 home runs and batted .304 for the New York Giants from 1926 to 1947. He led the National League in home runs six times throughout his career and helped the Giants win a World Series Championship in 1933.
He was signed to his first professional baseball contract at the age of 17.
He became known for his extremely unorthodox batting stance, where he'd hold his bat extremely far back.
He had two daughters, Barbara and Lyn, with his wife Mildred.
He passed Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby as the National League's all-time home run leader in 1937.
