She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from University of California, Irvine and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Hunter College School of Social Work.
She began making jewelry while working as a social worker to help her with stress.
She and her partner Dustin Lancaster have a son named Otis. She has a daughter, Sadie, and son, Jack, from a previous marriage.
