She got her start in the music business performing with the group Unisound.
She performed in German productions of musicals like Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar prior to her career as a recording artist.
Her father is comedian Benny Nightingale. Her daughter, Langka, was born in 1973.
She collaborated with Temptations singer Jimmy Ruffin on the 1982 single "Turn to Me."
