He grew up in Jamaica with his family, listening to many kinds of music including reggae, gospel, and R&B.
He recorded a cover of a Japanese song called "Vivid Colors" by the band L'arc~en~Ciel in 2012.
He has two sons named Ryan and Marvin.
He collaborated with fellow reggae singer Shaggy for the 1996 song "That Girl."
