German international forward known for his play in the Bundesliga with teams like Freiburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Wolfsburg. He debut for the German national team in 2013.
He started playing youth soccer in 1992, joining TSV Reinbek. He eventually joined Werder Bremen in 2006, with whom he would ultimately make his professional debut.
He competed in a World Series Poker tournament in October 2015, where he won 75,000 Euros. He then left his winnings in a cab, and was fined by Wolfsburg after the incident went public.
He has a son named Lauro and a sister named Pia.
After the poker incident, German coach Jaochim Low left him off the roster for a game against England as punishment.
