Prior to joining the NHL, he played in Sweden for Pitea HC.
He won a gold medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics competing for Sweden in hockey.
He has a daughter named Hannah and son named Viktor.
He was drafted 13th overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft; the first pick was defenseman Ed Jovanovski.
