Both a model and a prominent dating and life coach, he attracted additional media attention when he began dating Glee star Lea Michele in the summer of 2014. The two met during a music video shoot for Michele's song "On My Way." They broke up in early 2016.
Prior to his work as a life coach, he pursued a career in real estate.
He was once represented by JE Models in San Francisco, California.
The son of Debra and Steven Paetz and the brother of television sports reporter Stacy Paetz, he was raised in Jamestown, Indiana.
Before meeting Paetz, Lea Michele had a high profile relationship with her Glee castmate Cory Monteith. Tragically, Monteith died of a drug overdose in 2013.
