He attended film school in Riverside, California. He performed in the band Out with the Old before joining Best Kept Secret.
He co-directed a documentary called Kids Will Be Kids.
He was born Brian Mathew C Skajem Jr. in Riverside, California.
Skajem's group has been influenced by Tom DeLonge's band Blink 182.
