Matt Ridley
Novelist
A British journalist, businessman, politician, and author, he is known for his many popular science books, which include The Red Queen (1994), Genome (1999), and Nature via Nurture: Genes, Experience, & What Makes Us Human (2003). He served as science editor for The Economist during the 1980s.
He studied zoology at the University of Oxford. Later, he worked as the non-executive chairman for the UK based bank, Northern Rock, and also served as a Conservative member of the House of Lords.
He was once a visiting professor at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York.
He was born in Northumberland, England. He later married neuroscientist Anya Hurlbert; together, they had a son and a daughter.
