He majored in engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and co-founded the Trampoline Wrestling Federation.
He and his brother Jeff both became professional wrestlers, and together they founded the Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts (OMEGA).
He married Reby Skye in 2013. They have three sons named Maxel, Wolfgang and Bartholomew "Bartie" Kit, as well as a daughter named Eevee. He previously dated multiple wrestlers, including Amy Dumas and Ashley Massaro.
He is the brother of the great Jeff Hardy.
