Marty Meehan

American Democratic politician who represented Massachusetts' fifth congressional district in the United States Congress during the 1990s and early 2000s. After his time in the House of Representatives, he became Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
He earned degrees in political science and education from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and went on to earn both a graduate Public Administration degree and a J.D. from Suffolk University.
He worked on the legislation introduced into Congress to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy in the military.
He married Ellen T. Murphy in 1996; they had two sons together.
He was elected to Congress during the first term of Democratic President Bill Clinton.
