Photojournalist who is widely credited with introducing much of the world to the art of graffiti through her work documenting the graffiti scene in New York City. Her work as been featured in The New York Post, National Geographic, Smithsonian and more.
She earned an art degree from Grinnell College in 16. Her interest in photography increased when she began photographing tattoos while visiting Japan.
Her collection of graffiti photography Subway Art (1984) has been referred to as "the Bible of street art" by many.
She married an anthropologist.
