Screenwriter and producer, most remembered for films like Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm and the Little Princess, which was arguably his biggest hit. He was also honored with the Life Member Award from the Director's Guild in 1940.
He began his career acting before writing, appearing in tiny theatre roles during his childhood.
The Directors Guild of America awarded him an Honorary Life Member Award in 1940.
Married first wife Gertrude in 1913; divorced her and married second wife, Blanche Sweet, in 1922.
