Marshall Jefferson
Music Producer
Known as the father of house music, especially in the Chicago house and deep house subgenres.
He began as a record producer for Chicago's Universal Recording Studios, during which time he connected with Larry Sherman, owner of Trax Records.
His single, Move Your Body (The House-Music Anthem, from 1986 was the first house song to employ the piano; it was later featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Paris is Burning from 1991.
His family was residing in Chicago when he was born.
His "Move Your Body" was also used in 2002's 24 Hour Party People, directed by Michael Winterbottom.
