American boxer who became the first woman to box for the US at the Olympic games, doing so in 2012. She won a bronze medal in the flyweight division.
She decided to start boxing after watching her brother workout and was good enough to earn a trip to the World Championships by the time she was 17. She won a bronze medal.
She's appeared in commercials for Coke and McDonald's and has been endorsed by CoverGirl. She was named Houston Fighter of the Year five consecutive times from 2010-2014.
She grew up watching boxing with her three siblings in Houston, Texas.
Nicola Adams won the gold medal in the flyweight division in 2012.
