North Carolina State University men's basketball head coach who took the Wolfpack to the Sweet 16 in his first season with the team.
He transferred to Alabama after one season at Oral Roberts as a player and helped the Crimson Tide reach 3 consecutive Sweet 16s.
He was the head coach of his alma mater Alabama from 1998 until 2009, helping lead the team to a number 1 ranking in the AP poll for the first time in school history during the 2002-2003 season.
His father Joe Gottfried and uncle Mike Gottfried were head coaches for collegiate basketball and football, respectively.
He coached ACC Player of the Year Tj Warren while at NC State.
