American chef and media personality who specializes in Italian cooking. His restaurant, Babbo, received a Michelin Guide star.
He studied Spanish, theater and economics at Rutgers University. Afterwards, he began culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu, but quickly abandoned his studies in favor of professional work in the food industry.
He inspired the character Bario Matalli in the video game World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
He moved with his family to Spain in 1975. He married Susi Cahn in 1994. He has two sons, Leo and Benno.
His vocal talents were featured in Wes Anderson's animated film Fantastic Mr. Fox, which was based on a novel by Roald Dahl.
