Colombian music legend who has been called The Goddess of Cumbia due to the enormous success of albums like the platinum-selling 30 Años de Cumbia (2011). She received the Knight Degree, the highest honor handed out by the Colombian government, for her contributions to Colombian culture.
She was raised in Barranquilla, Colombia. She was forced to start working at age 14 following the sudden death of her father.
She was named Best Tropical Music Performer by Furia Musical in 2003, 2006, 2008 and 2012.
She has three sisters and a brother. She has a daughter named Eugenia.
