Margarita Simonyan
Journalist
Professional journalist whose career led her to become the editor-in-chief of both the news network RT and the international news agency Rossiya Segodnya. She was also the first Vice-President of the Russian National Association of TV and Radio Broadcasters.
She studied journalism at Kuban State University.
She was given a Movses Khorenatsi medal in 2010 and an Order for Merit to the Fatherland in 2014.
Her family is of Armenian descent. She married film director Tigran Keosayan in 2014. Her daughter's name is Mariana and her son's name is Bagrat.
She gave former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev a tour of the RT offices in 2010.
