Pop and country singer of the 1940s and 1950s who had #1 hits with "A Tree in the Meadow" and "Slippin' Around."
She began performing with popular contemporary orchestras before releasing solo albums.
She was a regular on television variety shows well into the 1970s, including Faye Emerson's Wonderful Town.
Her father Richard Whiting composed many classic songs like "Hooray for Hollywood" and "Ain't We Got Fun?"
She and her sister were on the sitcom Those Whiting Girls, a summer replacement for Lucille Ball's I Love Lucy.
