Marco van Basten

Legendary Dutch soccer player who became one of the best forwards of all time; he played for Ajax and Milan. He had his career cut short by a serious ankle injury and later became the head coach of Ajax and the Netherlands national team.
He started playing soccer at the age of six; he scored in his professional debut match with Ajax in 1982.
He was a three-time European Footballer of the Year and a FIFA World Player of the Year.
He grew up in Utrecht, Netherlands. He married Lesbeth van Capelleveen in 1993.
He and Robin van Persie are regarded as two of the greatest Dutch soccer players of all time.
