Mama Cax
Blogger
Née Cacsmy Brutus, a.k.a. Mama Cax, was a fashion aficionado dedicated to spreading body positivity for those with disabilities. Though she herself had a prosthetic leg, it didn't stop her from becoming a model and an Instagram sensation.
She earned a B.A. in international studies and would go on to pursue a master's degree. In 2005, her leg was amputated when she was diagnosed with bone and lung cancer. At the time, she'd been told she only had three weeks to live.
Her messages of self-love earned her features in publications like Huffington Post, TeenVogue, and BuzzFeed.
A Haitian-American, she lived in Brooklyn, New York.
Both she and fellow blogger Jessica Torres became known for promoting body positivity and self-love.
