Former land and water speed record holder who also competed in Grand Prix motor racing, winning the Grand Prix de Boulogne in 1927 and 1928.
He attended Uppingham School in England.
In 1931, he was knighted.
His father William Campbell sold diamonds in Hatton Garden.
His son Donald Campbell broke his land and water speed records.
