She started performing on stage at the age of 10. She pursued singing by attending Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. There she was selected to sing in the Gramm Ensemble and the Brubeck Summer Colony.
She became a member of the band Bleitch.
Her father is Howard Deutch, director of John Hughes' films Pretty In Pink and Some Kind Of Wonderful. Her mother is Lea Thompson, an actress best-known for portraying Lorraine in the Back To The Future films.
Her sister Zoey Deutch is also a movie actress.
