Macky Sall

After serving a three-year term as Prime Minister of Senegal and a one-year term as President of the Senegalese National Assembly, this Senegalese Democratic Party-turned-Alliance for the Republic Party politician took office in 2012 as Senegal's fourth President.
After working as a geological engineer, he served as Senegal's Minister of Mines, Energy and Hydraulics and eventually became Mayor of Fatick, Senegal.
He studied at both Cheikh Anta Diop University and the Institute of French Petroleum.
He was born and raised in Fatick, Senegal, as a member of an Islamic family. He married Marieme Faye Sall.
Sall succeeded Abdoulaye Wade as President of Senegal. Previously, he directed Wade's successful presidential re-election campaign.
