Macdonald Smith
Golfer
Scottish-born golfer who was one of the best players to never win a major championship.
He learned golf practicing on the notoriously difficult Carnoustie Golf Links.
His swing was widely admired by fellow golfers; even Bing Crosby said it was the best he'd ever seen.
His brother, Willie, won the U.S. Open in 1899, and another brother, Alex, won twice in 1906 and 1910.
His record for PGA Tour victories without a championship title was surpassed by Harry Cooper.
