She was Miss Virginia in her teens, and runner up in the Miss USA contest in 1977.
Her General Hospital character shifted from drab to sexy, manipulative to loyal, and while no one knew what to make of her, fans were intrigued and asked the producers to keep her on the show.
She had two sons with husband and actor Wayne Northrop, the two settling in a ranch-style home in a secluded rural area of Los Angeles.
Michael T. Weiss was her co-star on Days of Our Lives.
