Louis Untermeyer

Prolific anthologist, 14th United States Poet Laureate, fiction writer, and essayist. His works include Modern American Poetry (anthology); The New Adam (poems); The Pursuit of Poetry (essays); and The Dog of Pompeii (stories).
His editorials in The Masses and other publications advocated American non-involvement in World War I.
He was blacklisted in the 1950s for his leftist political views.
He was married five times and had several children. He was twice married to and twice divorced from Jean Starr.
He was a close friend and an early supporter of fellow poet Robert Frost.
