Louis Romano
Novelist
Known for Fish Farm, BESA, Intercession, and other works of mafia-themed crime fiction, Romano also published Anxiety's Nest and several other collections of urban themed poetry. Also a screenwriter, he won numerous awards for his cinematic adaptation of BESA.
He graduated from Montclair University with a degree in business.
He is known for his enthusiastic support of a nonprofit organization called Road to Recovery that helps victims of abuse perpetrated by members of the Roman Catholic clergy.
He grew up in a housing project in New York City's Bronx borough and studied at New Jersey's St. Raymond High School for Boys.
He and fellow New York born author Evan Hunter both became known for their works of crime fiction.
