Software developer and engineer known for creating the app Tweetie, which helped popularize the pull-to-refresh feature on touchscreen devices. He founded the app-creation company atebits.
He started programming when he was in middle school and continued to learn languages in high school. He then attended Tufts University, where he received a degree in electrical engineering.
He's spent time working for Apple and Twitter, to whom he sold Tweetie. He also helped introduced the sliding panel and vertical list icon features.
He has two children with Jean Whitehead.
He and Ray Ozzie both became known for their contributions to software and computing.
