Scottish-born singer and songwriter whose more than twenty United Kingdom Top 30 hits include "Cumberland Gap," "Gamblin' Man," and "My Old Man's a Dustman." His music spanned the folk, jazz, and pop genres.
Early in his musical career, he played with Chris Barber's traditional jazz band.
In the years before the Beatles' rise to rock-and-roll stardom, Donegan was considered the United Kingdom's most influential singer and songwriter.
His three marriages -- to Maureen Tyler, Jill Westlake, and Sharon Donegan -- produced a total of three daughters and four sons.
He performed on a Van Morrison album entitled The Skiffle Sessions - Live in Belfast 1998.
