Lewis Terman

Psychologist who developed the first modern tests to measure individuals' intelligence quotient - their IQ. He also did extensive research on children with high IQs in a longitudinal study known as The Genetic Studies of Genius, which he started in 1921.
He received a B.A. and M.A. from the Indiana University Bloomington before receiving his Ph.D. from Clark University in 1905.
A supporter of the controversial field of eugenics, he used his IQ tests to argue that non-white races were inherently less intelligent.
He was born in Johnson County, Indiana.
He published studies of the intelligence quotients of long-dead scientists like Isaac Newton and Gottfried Leibniz.
