Gifted with an incredible vocal range, he was best known as the lead singer of the Motown group The Four Tops.
He formed the group The Four Aims with three of his friends in 1954. A couple years later they became Four Tops.
He was also a successful voice actor, providing his voice for the film Little Shop of Horrors as the alien plant Audrey II and in Captain N: The Game Master as Mother Brain.
He had five children with his wife Clineice who he married in 1960 and stayed with until he passed.
Several well known music industry folk attended his funeral including Berry Gordy Jr.
