She earned a Ph.D in psychology from Pepperdine University and has worked with children dealing with loss.
She is the daughter of actor Michael Landon and has four children with Brian Matthews, whom she married in 1994.
She co-starred with Melissa Gilbert on the television series Little House on the Prairie.
