Middle-distance runner who won his first Olympic medal at the 2012 Summer Games, where he took silver in the 1500M race.
He went to the University of Texas, where he won five NCAA National Championship titles.
Though he was born in Mexico, he made the choice to compete internationally for the United States.
He was born in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico, but moved to Granite Shoals, Texas, when he was four.
At the 2012 Olympics he finished just 0.71 seconds behind gold-medalist Taoufik Makhloufi.
