After playing the role of Willis Frame on NBC's Another World, Russom appeared in episodes of such popular television series as Mission: Impossible, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Prison Break, and The X-Files.
Early in his career, he acted in two CBS soap operas: Love is a Many Splendored Thing and Guiding Light.
He appeared in two Coen brothers films: True Grit and The Big Lebowski.
He grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas. His wife, Karen Grassle, played the role of Caroline Ingalls on the popular NBC series Little House on the Prairie.
He and 3rd Rock from the Sun actor French Stewart were both members of a Los Angeles-based theater company called Sacred Fools.
