Rock 'n' roll pioneer active in the New Orleans music scene as a saxophonist and performer intermittently from the 1950s to his death.
He attended Xavier University for athletics and music. He collaborated with many local groups and their vocalists, like Fats Domino.
He performed with many rockabilly acts, like the Stray Cats and The Blasters.
He was born in Pittsburg, Kansas but was raised in Colorado.
Allen toured with the Rolling Stones, the their rock band led by Mick Jagger, in the early 1980s.
