She earned a country music degree at South Plains Junior College. She took a break from the music industry to raise her children but returned to music in the mid-1990s.

She married Jason Sellers in 1990 and, after their divorce, she married Frank Liddell on November 6, 1999. She has two daughters, Aubrie and Annalise.
She performed when George Bush was elected.
